Mapstation is set to release a new album next month.
Stefan Schneider, the former member of Kreidler, will aurally explore the African continent on the LP, which is entitled
The Africa Chamber. Schneider's work here doesn't faithfully recreate sounds from Africa, though. Instead, as the PR states, it's "a fanciful wunderkammer of would-be African sounds" that see Schneider working in all manner of experimental sounds and methods. It's Schneider's debut behind the decks as a producer, and it marks a notable change in method. "More and more analogue percussion" has been added to the mix, courtesy of Nicholas Addo-Nettey and Thomas Klein. Robert Wyatt collaborator and talented trombonist Annie Whitehead also joins the crew for a number of tunes as well.
