Berlin's WMF have unveiled their plans for the remainder of the year.
As one of Berlin's longest running clubbing establishments (the original incarnation of the place can be traced back to 1990 when it was housed in a disused cutlery factory) there has been a keen interest among the city's raving fraternity as to what the venue might do next. WMF was last an ongoing concern two years ago, but in January of 2009 it began to host events in their new Straussberger Platz location on roughly a monthly basis. This ongoing tweaking and refinement process is now over, however, and the team behind the venue have revealed a weekly program that will see them through until (almost) the end of the year.
In typical WMF fashion, the line-ups cover artists in a diverse range of electronic music, from disco to electro, experimental through to techno. First up this evening are Diplo and Switch, AKA Major Lazer, who will be followed on Saturday evening by the goth-ish electro of Ivan Smagghe. Ellen Allien, DJ Hell, Coldcut and Modeselektor are among those rounding out the rest of September. Moving into October, the multifarious action is set to continue as YACHT, Boys Noize, Mary Anne Hobbs and Henrik Schwarz feature. November meanwhile sees a slice of the melodic from James Holden and Nathan Fake, a generous helping of techno from Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin and DJ Koze, and experimental excursions with Carsten Nicolai as Alva Noto, Moritz von Oswald and Max Loderbauer.
