Born in Madrid and based in Geneva, Switzerland, David Mendo - known to clubbers as simply Mendo
- is no newcomer to the scene. He has been DJing since the age of 15, got signed to George Morel’s Miami-based Groove On
label way back in 2000, and he and his long-time partner-in-crime Chab have been running Clarisse Records
since 2003.
But all that history didn’t stop him from being named 2009’s ‘Breakthrough DJ/Producer’ by two very different DJs - Luciano
and Eric Morillo - in DJ Magazine’s end-of-year polls. Of course, Luciano had a little hand in that, signing Mendo to Cadenza for ‘Everybody I Got Him (2009 Mix)’, a rework of his nine-year-old classic for Groove On, along with ‘1992’. Both tunes turned out to be unstoppable on deeper-leaning dancefloors last year.
A few weeks ago, Mendo returned to Cadenza with the ‘Encantos’ EP, just the latest installment in a hot streak that has seen him turn up on Viva Music, Saved Records, CR2 and still more labels, both solo and in conjunction with Danny Serrano.
The DJ and producer gave Beatportal a peek into his own box of “Mendo gold”.
Niko Schwind is one of my favorite producers at the moment. I love his heavy rhythms and how he has used organic synths.
Another good job from Niko. This remix always destroy the dancefloor. The rhythm, bass, FX, and voices are just perfect.
Heavy and effective, no doubt! I play it in all my sets.
Respect for this remix - Mihai Popoviciu has done an incredible job.
One of the best producers at the moment - this track puts me in a trance every time.
