Whether you like your dancefloor light and fluffy, or dark and moody, Morgan Page’s progressive house repertoire more than likely fits the bill.
Whilst his solo productions and new album ‘Believe’ drift towards pop territory and radio-friendly ‘trouse’ (trance+house = trouse, can I have that one?), the former Bedrock Records darling also has a sneaky dark side.
As these Weekend Weapons show, Morgan Page’s DJ sets tend to centre mainly around the modern European progressive house and mainstream techno spectrum where the likes of EDX, John Dahlbäck, Jerome Isma-ae, and Afrojack can be found lurking, with their rat-a-tat-tat AK47 basslines and white noise cannons.
What ties his sound together, is a healthy does of melody and warm tones, the kind of emotive club music that makes you hug a complete stranger in the smoky lasers.
We asked Morgan Page
for his favourite dancefloor cuts of the moment, and he gave us eight arm raisers. Wahoo!
Inpetto is one of the most consistent duos around. They are a big part of why I love the new German progressive sound.
Always quality material from these guys!
I don’t think I’ve ever played a single set without a John Dahlbäck track. ‘Autumn’ was huge for me, and I can’t wait to start hammering this new one.
Three of my favorite artists combine for a dream team of a mix. Really been feeling Wippenberg lately, especially his recent ‘Pong’ track.
This song is in heavy rotation in all my sets.
2009 was a tremendous year for Steve. I will continue to play this record until I completely spoil it.
Chunky, melodic, and expertly arranged to titillate the crowd.
This is a monster! I think it’s Hook N Sling’s finest work to date.
Another massive trio of artists I really admire. Every Morgan Page set has at least one EDX mix in it, or the night is not complete!
Afrojack has taken the world by storm - I love sprinkling a few Afrojack mixes in every set, as they get amazing reactions every time, no matter how stubborn and jaded the crowd is.
